DRIVER CPC CERTIFICATE
What is driver CPC (Certificate of professional competence) ?
Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) first came into effect in September 2009.
The aim is to help you keep up to date with current legislation and improve safety to all road users, this is usually classroom based however can be done on the road as one of the modules.
Why do i need driver CPC training?
You must do 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years to keep your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) to drive a lorry, bus or coach.
When the new law regarding driver CPC licensing came into play there was also an introduction of grandfather rights. Grandfather rights mean those drivers who were already working didn’t need to stop working – they were protected and considered qualified under the new law. Therefore the Driver CPC only needed to be earned by any new drivers moving into the industry.
