The MOT test checks and helps assure drivers that their vehicles are safe and forms an integral part of DVSA’s strategic aim of keeping vehicles safe to drive.

We are grateful to the 60,000 nominated MOT testers who carrying out the MOT test with integrity and honesty in around 23,000 testing stations in Great Britain.

Unfortunately, we have seen a minority of cases where testers who we trust to carry out the MOT test have committed fraud for their own personal gain. We are committed to ensuring the MOT is correctly carried out to protect the industry and road users from people and vehicles who pose a risk to road safety.

DVSA’s Director of Enforcement, Marian Kitson, issues a warning in her latest blog post.
